If we’re being totally honest, we kinda forgot that mega FITLORD Jake Quickenden is actually a singer. Partly because we drift off into an alternate universe where Jake’s our doting, often shirtless boyfriend at the mere mention of his name. And partly because he’s been cropping up left, right and centre on reality TV shows recently.
But, after taking on the jungle on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and skating his way to victory Dancing On Ice crown, Jake’s revealed he’s back in the studio and ready for a music comeback.
“I think a lot of people have forgotten that I even sing to be honest,” Jake told heatworld.
“It will be nice to show people that I do actually do that, and not just go on reality TV.”
Speaking about the inspiration behind his return to singing, the former X Factor contestant revealed his new music will show a completely different side to him.
“I just wanted one more bash at it,” Jake explained.
“I’ve always done music that wasn’t really for me – I want to go back to my acoustic singer-songwriter kind of vibe.”
Jake also revealed that while a full album may be a way off, we could be getting a ‘5 or 6 track EP’ of original songs.
“I’ll release the single and hopefully people will like it,” he continued.
As well as warming up those vocal chords, Jake’s also been getting hot and sweaty while stripping off and perfecting his dance moves, as he’s recently joined The Dreamboys on their current tour.
Speaking to us about picking up all the new choreography, Jake joked: “[the dancing’s] getting there. I wouldn’t call myself Channing Tatum just yet, but it’s getting there.”
And, as if singing and dancing (shirtless, did we mention?) wasn’t enough for Jake, he’s also hinted he’s up for a new reality TV challenge.
“Something like Bear Grylls The Island,” Jake told us.
“I love adventure kind of stuff, so if anything like that came along I’d definitely think about it. Something that has to challenge me."
Jake has joined The Dreamboys as a special guest and will be embarking on over 40 dates as part of their record breaking nationwide tour.
