Jake Quickenden on Danielle Fogarty romance: ‘She likes me because I’m like her dad’

Some couple’s say it’s love at first sight when they get together, but for Jake Quickenden and girlfriend Danielle Fogarty it seems it was slightly different - Danielle may have been drawn to Jake because he’s so much like her dad.

I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! runner-up Jake met Danielle after he appeared on the jungle reality show alongside her father Carl.

And it seems the former X Factor hunk may share so many qualities with sportsman Carl that his daughter soon found herself attracted to Jake.

When it was suggested to girls pick boyfriends who are similar to their fathers during a Sunday Mirror interview, Jake was asked what he had in common with Carl.

He replied: “Obviously he was at the top of his game, determined and competitive and I am too. I’m willing to work hard. There’s that, but I’m a lot louder, he’s more quiet and takes things in.

“There was a time in the jungle when we went head-to-head and I remind him I beat him every day in a trial. Then he rubs it in that he won the show, so I can’t say anything.”

While Jake teases pal Foggy over their time on the ITV programme, he still treats him with respect and made sure he had his permission before asking his daughter to move in with him.

Jake said: “I spoke to him, because I wanted to be respectful towards her dad, but he was cool because we’re friends.”
