People cannot cope with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson at The Oscars

We don't blame them, tbh.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson

You might have thought Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway reading out the wrong name for the Best Picture Award was the most awkward point of last night's Oscars? Or maybe even Chrissy Teigen caught in the act having a little snooze mid-way through the ceremony?

Well, you'd be wrong.

Some people think Fifty Shades Darker's Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson's on-stage chemistry (or lack of) was the real low point.

Taking to the stage to introduce the award for Best Production Design, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele reached peak awkwardness – a climax, if you will – and the internet reacted appropriately.

We're not really sure why, but Dakota decided to crack some sort of sarcastic/ironic/basically un-funny joke, saying to Jamie: "You look familiar."

To which Jamie replied: "Hmm. I'm sure I do."

And there was a slight hint of laughter from the crowd and a load of red faces.

JUST WATCH.

This awkwardness – of course – did not go unnoticed.

Despite this apparent awkwardness, Jamie recently spoke to heat about his friendship with Dakota.

"We’ve been through a very unique situation that probably neither of us will ever go through again, that pushed us together and we had to rely on each other 100 per cent," he told the mag.

"It forged that bond between us that will always be there. We didn’t know each other particularly on the first one because I was late to the party, and it meant there wasn’t a lot of time to form that friendship and that dynamic between us.

"But working on this and Fifty Shades Freed [the third instalment] was so much better in that sense because we had gotten to know each other so well, become best friends, know what to expect of the other, especially when you’re shooting scenes of very close intimacy."

(You can read more about this and hear what Jamie had to say about all the S-E-X here)
