Last weekend Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter – Maddie Aldridge – was involved in a terrifying accident leaving her trapped underwater by an overturned ATV.
Maddie was apparently riding an ATV within view of Jamie Lynn and her stepfather when she overcorrected a turn and crashed into a pond, and became trapped underneath by the vehicle's seatbelt and safety netting for around two minutes.
Last week we learned that Maddie had been in a critical condition in hospital but by Wednesday had thankfully come round and was awake and breathing on her own in hospital.
Maddie has now left the hospital and will continue her recovery at home.
Jamie Lynn – who is Britney Spears' younger sister – took to Instagram to share the good news with her fans, friends and family.
Below an image of an air-ambulance, she wrote: "Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA, we are headed home with our baby girl as she continues to recover," she wrote. "Above all else we are so thankful for each and every prayer, because we know that is what truly made the difference. Thank you again to everyone. We are truly blessed."
Britney also shared the good news about her niece's recovery with a post on Instagram saying: "So grateful that Maddie was able to go home today…it's truly a miracle. Our prayers were heard, and they were answered. Thank you so much for all your love and support this week. My family appreciates it more than you will ever know.
We hope Maddie continues to make a speedy recovery.
