Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter – Maddie Aldridge – was involved in a terrifying accident at the weekend when she was trapped under water by an overturned ATV.
It looks as though Maddie was riding an ATV within view of Spears and her stepfather when she overcorrected a turn and crashed into a pond, and became trapped underneath by the vehicle's seatbelt and safety netting for around two minutes.
Until midday yesterday, the 8-year-old had been in critical condition, but she is reportedly now awake and breathing on her own.
A representative of the family released a statement, which says: "with her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness.
"The 8-year-old daughter of entertainer Jamie Lynn Spears was involved in an ATV accident at a family home Sunday in Kentwood, La. Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital.
"She is aware of her surroundings and recognises those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident."
The statement also confirmed that she has "not suffered any neurological consequences" as a result of the accident.
It’s amazing news for the Spears family.
Britney Spears posted a picture to Instagram with the caption: "Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece 💜".
Thankfully, it looks like she's making a speedy recovery!
