Celebrity health and fitness coach Valérie Orsoni has been advising Hollywood A-list, including Jennifer Aniston, on how to beat the buffet table without breaking the diet.
So we caught up with her at the launch of her new book Le Bootcamp Diet, to find out what we have to do to combat those cravings – after all, awards season is here, daaarlings!
Valerie tells us: “Always have an apple with you. I tell celebrities if you eat an apple your appetite will be curbed by 25%! Eat the skin, if you can eat the seeds as well it’s even better because they’re full of pectin and inflate in your abdomen by 20 per cent.”
While our lives might not be as hectic as celebs’ most of us would rather slump in front of Ex On The Beach rather than prepare a super-healthy meal. So Valerie says: “If you are going from your house have a hard-boiled egg – it’s just pure protein and fat so that really is good for you. If you can’t do that because you arrive from work, start with a tomato juice first, it’s savoury and kills off the sweet tooth straight away, it’s full of antioxidants and fills up your stomach.”
And if like us there’s just no stopping you from gravitating towards the buffet at parties, Valerie says: “Go for the protein, shrimps or lobster, because that will send a feeling of fullness right away. And then if you want something sweet after that then it’s okay, have two or three pieces but don’t start with it.”
Two or THREE pieces of pudding… well, since you insist.
Le Bootcamp Diet by Valerie Orsoni (Quadrille, £9.99) is available to order from all good bookshops at £7.99 + £1.95 p&p.
