Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have filed for divorce after being separated for nearly two years.

According to TMZ, the motion for divorce could "not be more amicable", and although they have not listed a date of separation the pair first announced their split in June 2015 .

It is thought they both want joint custody of their three children, and have not made a decision on spousal support, leaving it open for the judge to award when the divorce becomes final.

As there is reportedly no pre-nup, this means heir earnings during their twelve-year marriage would be split 50/50, unless agreed otherwise.

It is also claimed that Ben and Jennifer have opted to carry out the proceedings outside of court and the divorce has been filed pro per – meaning without a lawyer.

TMZ also revealed: "We're told Ben and Jen are still negotiating a financial settlement. The divorce could become final in 6 months."
