Over the last few years, Jennifer Lawrence has received the kind of press that most other stars would dream of - dubbed FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the World, pulling off both goofy and gorgeous by stacking it at the Oscars (twice) and of course, releasing a whole host of huge movies to critical acclaim.

However, the Hunger Games and X-Men: Days of Future Past star has come under fire for making a rape joke while at the Vanity Fair and Armani part at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17.

Reportedly, Jennifer was heard screaming, then overheard saying “I broke out my rape scream for you” when she first met Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón.

There has yet to be any comment or apology from J-Law’s camp, meanwhile a host of blogs and websites have criticised the star.

Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton wrote: ‘We know you're always open and honest in interviews, but COME ON, a rape joke?!?

"We're sure she thought that what was said at the party was private, but even still, that's no excuse for a rape joke!! They're not funny, ever."

However, a few have commented on the social media, that the joke was intended to be private and never meant to be heard by the public.

Crushable.com said “By her blasé use of the terminology, it seems likely that she’s been lucky enough never to be in a situation necessitating that type of scream, or else I hope she wouldn’t throw it around so casually.”
