With Jennifer Lopez’s husband Ben Affleck having reportedly moved out of the family home, the superstar has been taking her mind off things in the way she knows best: by jetting off on holiday.
Last week, the singer headed to southern Italy, returning to the same restaurant she and Ben dined at on a loved-up trip three years ago. But while J-Lo’s vacay may have appeared to be a solo trip, sources say she wasn’t spending it silently. We’re told that J-Lo, 54, has been back in contact with her ex Drake, 37, who she’s been speaking to “almost daily” for support during this tricky time with Ben.
An insider tells heat, “Jen’s been leaning on Drake over the last few weeks after he reached out to offer his support. He’s helping her get through what’s been one of the toughest times in her life. Drake’s been vocal about his mental health struggles and is currently taking some time out to focus on his own wellbeing, so knowing how in tune he is with his emotional health makes Jen feel very comfortable about being vulnerable and open with him.”
The former couple dated for a few months from 2016 to 2017, just before the Jenny From The Block singer started dating baseball star Alex Rodriguez. A year later, Drake alluded to the romance on his track Diplomatic Immunity, rapping, “2010 was when I lost my halo, 2017, I lost a J-Lo…”
Interestingly, we’re told A-Rod, 48, has also been on J-Lo’s mind in the wake of her troubles with Ben. Our source reveals she’s been feeling wistful about her time with the sports star – whom she was engaged to before reuniting with Ben in 2021 – and is rumoured to be considering a move back to New York, where she and Alex used to live. Friends are saying she’s been in touch with him and would love to reconnect.
With Ben reportedly staying at a rental property in Brentwood, California while he and J-Lo quietly try to sell the Beverly Hills mansion they bought together in May 2023, a relocation to the Big Apple could be exactly what she needs amid what could be a messy uncoupling.
Our insider says, “Aside from the heartache and emotional ups and downs of their current situation, the fact that there is prenup and all the logistics that entails have been weighing heavily on Jen. She’s been warned this could potentially become one of Hollywood’s ugliest divorces, which would be her worst nightmare.”
We’re told that Ben’s first wife, Jennifer Garner, has also reached out to J-Lo, with the source saying that the pair “realised they ultimately have Ben’s best interests at heart”.
The insider adds, “While Jen knows it may seem bizarre, she feels secure with Jennifer and insists that it’s far better she were involved – for now – to avoid her and Ben getting too emotional and ending up in another argument.”
