Ed Westwick’s former Gossip Girl co-star and ex-girlfriend Jessica Szohr has spoken out on the allegations of sexual misconduct made against the actor.
“[I] wasn’t there, for either side, so I can’t say it did or didn’t happen. But I know him well and I’ve known him for years, and I found it shocking,” Jessica told Cosmopolitan.
“I hope that it’s untrue, but I also feel bad for anyone that’s been in that situation, for the women that have to deal with that, for the situations that are true.”
Jessica revealed that, she couldn’t imagine he’d ‘put someone in that position’ and was shocked by the news.
She also added that she had spoken to Ed since the allegations had come to light and questioned whether the girls could be ‘stretching the truth’.
“You know, he’s like, ‘The truth will come out and hopefully people see that and hopefully that’s it,’” Jessica continued.
Earlier this month, Ed was accused of sexual assault by a woman who shared her story on Facebook.
Actress Kristina Cohen claims Ed raped her after she was taken to his house by a producer she was dating at the time. Ed denied any wrong doing and took to Twitter to say he’d never even met Kristina.
Shortly after a further two women came forward with claims of sexual misconduct against Ed.
After the second allegation, Ed shared another statement online. He wrote: “It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude that I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct. I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."
