Jimmy Bullard suffered hallucinations and panic attacks during his time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, forcing producers to chase after him when he fled deep into the jungle.
The retired footballer became so hungry he saw imaginary meals around the camp and panicked he begged for food and a doctor.
He told The Sun: “I panicked and ‘went into one’ for 10 minutes. It was totally nutty and I lost my head completely. It’s crazy how mad your brain gets in there.
“I had to tell [fellow campmate Vicki Michelle], ‘I’m hallucinating’. I was staring at the fire. I saw pizza and a curry.
“Hunger kicked in. I thought, ‘I’ll do [Bushtucker Trial] Terror Tombs and still be hungry. Why am I doing this?’
“I had a black cloud over my head. I told producers, ‘I have to go’, and ran. They were shouting, ‘Where’s he going?’ I was running deeper in the jungle, shouting, ‘I need a doctor. I need a doctor. I need a banana or something’.
“I couldn’t deal with it. I needed food. I even saw blokes walk past and thought about eating them.”
Jimmy also suffered a panic attack during a power cut which was not shown on television.
The lights went out and he was so terrified he had to be convinced to return to the camp by producers.
He said: “I was thinking, ‘Why are the lights going down? I need to get under lights.’
“I ran towards a table with drinks on it. Producers shut the doors and started talking to me.”
