Edgy one-liners? Check. Deadpan delivery? Check. Signature laugh? Check. Tax avoiding? Erm, check. There’s many things comedian, Jimmy Carr is known for but now it seems he can check charitable off of his list, too.

The 42-year-old funnyman was due to take to the stage at King George's Hall in Blackburn on Friday, but turned up two hours late after his train was delayed. Join the club, Jimmy!

Taking to Twitter (as we usually do) to vent his train delay frustrations, the 8 Out of 10 Cats host wrote:

"Train broken down on the way to Blackburn. But the show must go on. Sure hope I'm funny when I get there.”

Who are you and what have you done with Jimmy Carr?

But credit where credit is due, Jimmy reportedly forked out £4,000 worth of drinks for the fans who patiently waited for him to arrive.

One thankful fan tweeted: "Probably won't even remember Jimmy Carr by the time he gets here. The free drinks are appreciated though!"

The comedian continued: "Never been this late for a show. Knowing my audience & knowing Blackburn there's gonna be a fair bit of heckling. Can't wait...but had to & now the taxis gone the wrong way. I am on my way - but will anyone still be there? So sorry Blackburn."

Jimmy, you’re so generous – when you’re not avoiding the taxman…
