It appears J.K. Rowling has shared yet another treat for Harry Potter fans - on website Pottermore - and this time it's a story revealing details of the history of the Potter family.
Posted today, the article The Potter Family traces Harry's family roots all the way back to the 12th century.
The Potters apparently descended from the wizard, who had seven children, Linfred of Stinchcombe - a "locally well-beloved and eccentric man, whose nickname, 'the Potterer,' became corrupted in time to 'Potter.'"

And it is also explained how the infamous "Invisibility Cloak" became a family heirloom.
The article tells of how the Potter family became in possession of the cloak, which helped Harry through all seven of Rowling's books of the Potter series - It also became an important plot point in the final novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Aside from revealing brand new information on the Potters, the Pottermore piece also delves into Harry's ancestry and explains how his grandfather quadrupled the family’s fortune.
