Series two of the US version of The Circle may already be well underway on Netflix, but we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for the series one cast.
The series had been successful in the UK for a good few series’ before the American’s decided they wanted a crack of the whip, sending over a shiny new cast of homegrown hopefuls to Salisford where they made themselves at home in the show’s now iconic apartment block.
The show’s winner was New York native, Joey Sasso, who won the hearts of his fellow players and viewers alike when he took home the crown.

Who is Joey Sasso?
Joey Sasso is the winner of the first series of the US Circle. It first aired in 2020 and is currently on Netflix in the UK.
After he rose to fame on the reality-cum-gameshow, Joey did a tell all interview with GQ magazine, saying, “A lot of people perceived me in the beginning how people have perceived me in real life, that I’m a douchebag or a cocky asshole or a Jersey Shore wannabe. Especially living in L.A., you stick out like a sore thumb for being from New York, having an accent and slicked-back hair. But that’s sort of been the story of my life, man."

"I’m the most confident person you’ll ever meet. I believe in myself, I’ll talk to anybody, but people sometimes take that as a douchey way of being.
"If you actually get to know me, you’ll find out that I love every single person, would do anything for anybody, and suddenly your perception is out the window. That’s why it’s kind of insane to me that this show went the same way."

Are Joey Sasso and Miranda Bissonette still together?
During his time in The Circle, Joey formed an online bond with fellow contestant Miranda Bissonette. The couple didn’t meet in person during gameplay but after Miranda was ‘blocked’ - ie, booted off – she was able to pay Joey a visit in his apartment and the two ended up ‘tashing on.
Speaking after filming wrapped, Joey said, “Everyone wants to know, ‘are you together, are you not together?’ The truth is that it’s kind of neither," he told Esquire magazine.

"We are in each other’s lives. We are incredibly close. I love that girl to death. We have an amazing friendship that is unlike any relationship I’ve had with anyone else except my ex-girlfriend.
"For both of us, we just know that the love we have for each other—we know relationships can change that. She has a life in Tahoe; I have a life in LA, but we see each other all the time. We talk all the time. The love there is so genuine and real."
In April 2021 he released an Instagram story saying they were just friends.
