It’s crazy to think that after receiving 3 Academy Award nominations over the years, Johnny Depp has yet to bag one of the golden statuettes. But the actor isn’t fussed about getting one, tbh.
Johnny attended the premiere of his new gangster film, Black Mass, in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday night and told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat all about his Oscar expectations…
“I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know," Johnny tells BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat. "I don't want to have to talk (give a speech)... They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times. A nomination is plenty.”
Depp has already received critical acclaim for his portrayal of real life gangster “Whitey” Bulger. In the role Johnny is transformed using clever make up and prosthetics, including bad teeth. The whole process used to take him around 2 hours everyday.
The film also stars British treasure Benedict Cumberbatch as “Whitey’s” brother. When asked what it was like to work with Johnny, Benedict told us he is “incredibly talented, generous and loyal. And his performance in this film is stupendous.”
Yikes. Looks like a little golden statue might be making its way to one of your many homes in February whether you like it or not, Depp…
