Imagine Joseph Gordon-Levitt explaining to a builder why it’s rude to wolf-whistle at women. Picture Joseph Gordon-Levitt having a go at a mechanic who’s trying to overcharge you just because you’re not really sure what a carburator is or does. See Joseph Gordon-Levitt in your mind’s eye getting up with your screaming child in the middle of the night, because “That’s what dads do”. Hot, right?

Yup, hot as all hell, because JGL has made a video talking about how he’s a massive feminist, AND SO SHOULD YOU. BE. SO YOU SHOULD BE, TOO. YOU KNOW WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO SAY HERE.

The YouTube video starts out with the actor talking about the public response he got to appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and ‘coming out’ as a feminist, saying most of the feedback had been positive but there had been some backlash against his views.

“There were some people who were saying that feminism made sense in the past, but men and women are equal now,” he said.

“I’m no expert, but I think the facts are pretty contrary to this; I think if you actually look at the evidence for salaries for women versus salaries for men – at least in the United States – there’s still a massive disparity, and that’s just one of many examples.”

The Dark Knight star also revealed how his mum had introduced him to the idea of gender equality and asked his viewers to give their own views of feminism for a short film he’s making.

Sigh. Why don’t you live in our house, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, so we can raise beautifully right-on children together? Hmm?
