Remember when Justin Bieber took his mum, Pattie Mallette as his date to the _AMA_s in 2012?
The pair used to be so close but now, Justin has revealed that following his wild child phase over the last couple of years – their relationship has been damaged. So much so, Justin described their connection as “pretty non-existing”
Speaking about the influence his wild partying and problems with the law had on his mum, Justin explained to Billboard: “I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was.”
Pattie has now moved to Hawaii and although they’re not close, Justin, 21, hopes to rebuild their relationship.
“We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust,” Justin said. “She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her.”
Pattie’s stayed supportive of her son and regular tweets about him. Last week, she praised how far Justin has come, telling her followers: “It takes a lot to admit our mistakes, actually OWN them & apologize ANY TIME @justinbieber!
Especially to the whole world. #manmove”.
