Celebrity marriages aren’t exactly known for staying the course – so it’s more than normal to throw a prenup into the mix before saying “I do”. But a mid-nup? That’s a first.

According to insiders, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to reset the terms of their six-year union by drawing up a “detailed, iron-clad, mid-term agreement that will make life way less complicated if and when they do decide to divorce”.

Apparently, the famous couple, who share four children – North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and one-year-old Psalm – are still in choppy waters, following Kanye’s erratic behaviour over the past few months. And despite them both giving their relationship their best shot, Kim’s making sure she’s covered if the proverbial ever hits the fan.

“Kanye is effectively on marriage probation right now,” says an insider close to Kim.

The reality mega-star was blindsided after Kanye (who has bipolar disorder) lashed out at her and her mum Kris Jenner on Twitter and called them “white supremacists,” and also claimed that he and Kim considered having an abortion while she was pregnant with North.

“If he can’t prove to Kim that he’ll put their family first, then she’ll reluctantly walk away. They’ve already started splitting their finances, but – in the event of them splitting – Kim wants half of Kanye’s cash earned during their union, plus the $1million she’s entitled to for each year of the marriage (as per their original pre-nup). Even if they do get back on track long-term, she’s still insisting on this mid-nup to give herself that added protection.”

Who said romance was dead, eh?
