It’s rare that celebrities get as open and raw as Kate Ferdinand did last week, admitting she feels like she’s “losing her mind” and is wracked with “terrible guilt” as her pregnancy progresses. And while that honesty is exactly why we love her, many of Kate’s friends are worried she’s pushing herself too hard.
In fact, after confessing she’s getting “terrible migraines” and is “absolutely wiped out”, those closest to her are begging her to slow down and let husband Rio help.
“Kate’s constantly piling more pressure on herself to be the perfect wife and mum,” says an insider close to the 29 year old, who married former footballer Rio in September, and is stepmum to his children, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, nine. “Her friends are all worried, because Kate is her own toughest critic. She doesn’t know how to stop.”
Last week, fans rushed to offer sympathy and concern after the former TOWIE star shared the emotional 400-word Instagram post. Next to a shot of herself in the gym, she admitted to being “so exhausted”, continuing, “I don’t know whether I’m coming or going… Am I losing my mind?”
Kate revealed that she’d resumed training after hitting the 12-week pregnancy milestone, sharing photos two days in a row of her workouts. She wrote, “I’m always running around at a hundred miles an hour, trying to do everything, and taking it easy is just not in my make up… I’ve been doing Pilates & some weight training – my mind feels so much better for it. For me, the gym is like therapy. It really does help me stay calm and less anxious.”
But she also admitted, “There are still days I feel absolutely wiped out, have terrible migraines & I do just go back to bed. In all honesty, those days I feel so useless and have been having terrible guilt that I’m not around for the kids and Rio is doing everything… It’s so scary being pregnant for the first time. I worry about everything.
