It sounds like it might be a new chapter for Kate and Rio Ferdinand, after it was reported last week that they’re eyeing up properties and schools in the Middle East.
And we’ve been told that it’s all down to Kate looking for a fresh start somewhere completely new, in a place that the family love.

‘Kate has felt like they’ve been a bit stuck for while now, and thinks that somewhere like Dubai would be the perfect place to start afresh – especially with where she and Rio are in their lives right now,’ a source tells heat.
‘She’s never felt truly at ease in their family home, as it was Rio and [his late wife] Rebecca’s, but she would never have made the kids go through the upheaval of moving after everything they’d been through. Now, though, Lorenz has moved out, Tate is doing his GCSEs, and the younger kids aren’t too settled, so she feels that it’s time to try life in the sun.’

Kate, 33, and Rio, 46, have a far from quiet life in their sprawling £4million London mansion. Alongside their booming careers, the couple are parents to son Cree, four, and daughter Shae, one. Kate’s also stepmum to Lorenz, 18, Tate, 16, and Tia, 13 – Rio’s children with Rebecca Ellison, who died from cancer in 2015.
Dubai definitely seems like the perfect location for the couple. Footballer-turned-pundit Rio has been working a lot more out in the UAE and Kate is also a fan of the lifestyle it offers.
‘Rio has a lot of business opportunities in the Middle East, and he can see how lucrative it could be for them. Plus, Kate loves the outdoor lifestyle and thinks she could really fit in somewhere like Dubai,’ our insider continues.

‘She’s a lot younger than most of the mums of the older kids, and she does sometimes feel a bit judged. Moving there, she could be queen bee. Plus, it’s only a six-hour flight back to the UK.’
Dubai also holds special memories for the couple, who tied the knot back in 2019, having first met there through mutual friends back in 2016.
And as they plan their future, our insider adds, ‘Kate just wants to do whatever is best for her, Rio, and the kids. They still have a lot to sort out, and they know they can always return if it doesn’t work out.’
