Kate Hudson gets advice from Chris Martin And Gwyneth Paltrow following Matt Bellamy split

It seems that prior to announcing their split on Monday night, Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have been getting some relationship advice from friends who know a thing or two about avoiding a messy split.

Unlike most of us who turn to friends for a Pinot Grigio-fuelled rant about everything that's wrong/amazing with our ex, Kate and Matt are taking the much more grown up approach of finding a friendly solution.

And who better to turn to than Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin who effectively own splitting up gracefully.

A source told The Sun: "Matt and Kate modelled their separation on Chris and Gywneth. They had several individual meetings with both, seeking advice on how to handle the split plus keep things as normal as possible for their kids.

"They will remain close friends."

News of the split was announced by Kate's representative to People magazine, saying: "Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain close friends and committed co-parents." 

The couple, who began dating in 2010, have a three-year-old son Bingham and Kate has an older son Ryder, 10, with Black Crows singer Chris Robinson.

And the romance rumour mill's already started turning with allegations that Kate has already 'hooked up' with US dancer Derek Hough, best known for dating Cheryl Fernandez-Versini following her split from Ashley Cole.

 According to* Us Weekly* Kate and Derek went for dinner at Hollywood celeb hangout Nice Guy on Friday night and even stayed after closing. News that could mean the best date ever or Kate ordering everything on the menu to eat her way through her heartbreak.


Previous to rumours of a romance, Kate's spoken of her friendship with Derek. 

"My heart is really in contemporary jazz, but lately I've been dancing with Derek Hough," she said last year. "It's been a real blast."
