Last week we were given the surprise news that Kate Middleton is pregnant with her third child, after the Duchess' acute morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum, forced her and Prince William to make the exciting announcement earlier than anticipated. Kate's condition meant that she could no longer fulfill an engagement she had planned that day at Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London.

Now, people are starting to speculate on how far along into her pregnancy the Duchess is, considering the sudden nature of the announcement. Kensington Palace neglected to confirm her due date in its official statement.

While most women wait until the 12-week mark, at the end of their first trimester, to share the news, it is widely assumed that Kate, 35, isn't yet at this point. But now her husband William may have let slip on where she is in her pregnancy.

After speaking at the National Mental Health and Policing conference in Oxford yesterday, an audience member congratulated the 35-year-old royal on the news. William reportedly responded by saying, "Thank you, it's very good news. There's not much sleep going on at the moment."

He continued to say that "It was a bit anxious to start with," but that they can "start celebrating this week", something which might hint that Kate is approaching the 12-week mark. If this is the case, then the baby will be due in six months time, in mid-March 2018.

Bookies are already taking bets on what the name of the baby will be, with Alice, Victoria, and Elizabeth being the most popular for a girl and Philip, James, and Arthur for a boy.

The child will be fifth-in-line to the throne, following grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, elder brother Prince George, and elder sister Princess Charlotte, who will not be passed over thanks to a recent change in the law of succession.
