It’s not long now until Kate Middleton will be heading to the Lindo Wing, at St Mary’s in London, to welcome Prince George’s little brother or sister.
Kate gave birth at the Lindo Wing with George and we’re not surprised she’s going back. Alongside the glowing reviews of all the staff who work there – it sounds like the most AMAZING place to have a baby.
Seriously, one woman we spoke to told us she even had a manicure while she was there. Welcoming new life and being pampered…where do we sign up to get a bank loan?
How much is it all costing?
It’s no cheap to have a baby at the super posh Lindo Wing.
A one-night stay costs a massive £6,265 (it’s a suite with two rooms, BTW) and that excludes the doctors’ fees. Extras include antenatal care overnight for around £900 and parental education classes are a snip (not!) at £350…
When George was born it was claimed the birth and his stay cost over £10,000 and…it’s probably not going to be any cheaper for his sibling.
What will Kate’s room be like?
You can opt for a standard room but we expect Kate to opt for a deluxe room or suite (she is royalty) and those are pretty swanky.
With a satellite TV to keep up to date on all the best shows (KUWTK repeats, anyone?) and newspapers delivered to the room – Kate will be able to chill while waiting for the little one to come along. There’s also a fridge, decent Wifi facilities, a safe and a bedside phone.
She won’t have to pack her Pantene Pro V either because all toiletries are provided.
Oh, and they’ll be a fully reclining chair for Wills to relax on while it’s all kicking off.
What will Kate be eating?
There’s no plastic cutlery or dodgy grub at the Lindo Wing – Kate will be able to select her meals from a menu and they will be cooked to order. Just like a posh restaurant.
In February, the wing underwent a revamp and now the food on the menu is all brand new and tres posh.
Each meal comes with a selection of three courses. Starters include soup of the day and mains range from lamb chops to grilled poultry. For dessert, Kate could go for a selection of cheeses, cake or a healthy fruit platter.
If Kate’s not up to a hearty meal – there’s a light bite menu with lots of sandwiches and salads for her to snack on.
Oh, and there’s a full wine list and new parents are offered champagne to toast their new arrival once the giving birth bit is over.
The only bad news is, dad’s aren’t normally allowed to order off the menu – although we’re sure they’ll make an exception for the future King of England.
Worst comes to worst though, Wills, we’ve worked out that there’s a McDonalds (3 minutes walk), a Costa Coffee (5 minutes walk) or, if he’s really hungry – there’s an Angus Steakhouse right outside the hospital.
Meal times are: Breakfast 07:30-08:30, Lunch 12:00-13:30, Evening meal 18:00-19.00
What will Kate be packing?
The list issued by the Lindo Wing asks women to bring in:
-
A dressing gown
-
Slippers
-
Nursing bras
-
Socks
-
Pyjamas
-
Two to three sleep suits for the baby
-
Blankets for the baby
-
Any favourite snacks they may have (maybe the menu doesn’t do Cheesy Doritos?)
-
Music, books and games to pass the time
-
And, the most important part – their birthing plan.
Don’t forget that, Kate. We’ll see you later in the month – good luck!
