Kate Middleton will give birth to her and Prince William’s second child in April next year, Kensington Palace has confirmed this morning.
The Royal baby – who will be Prince George’s little brother or sister – is due in the spring, making Kate around 14 weeks pregnant.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced the news in September before Kate had reached the critical 12-week stage because she was once again struck down with extreme morning sickness, and the couple were worried their happy news would be leaked early if witnesses spotted her getting medical attention.
Poor Kate has the same condition - hyperemesis gravidarum – this time round as she did with George. The ailment causes extreme sickness and vomiting in pregnant women, and in the most serious cases lasts for the whole nine months and can cause severe dehydration to both mum and baby.
The Duchess has had to cancel her work schedule while she recovers from her illness, but tomorrow is set to make her first public appearance since the news broke, when she and Wills will welcome the president of Singapore to the UK.
The 32-year-old will also head over to the Natural History Museum tomorrow for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014 Awards ceremony, but it’s not yet known if she’ll be presenting an award.
It’ll be her first time back in London for a few weeks as she’s been hiding out at her parents’ home in Berkshire with 15-month-old George to get some much needed rest.
“Kate is feeling so lousy that she just wanted to be with her family and out of public view,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
“She is extremely close to Carole, who is very much a hands-on grandmother. Between her and their nanny, Maria, Kate has all the help she needs with George while she is feeling so sick.”
