Prince William and Kate Middleton have left hospital after the birth of their baby daughter today after showing her off to the world.
The Duchess of Cambridge went into labour early this morning and welcomed her second child to her family at 8.34am at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.
ROYAL BABY ROUND-UP
The couple posed for pictures outside before heading home to nearby Kensington Palace with the new princess.
Kate wore a custom-made yellow buttercup print Jenny Packham dress as she stood by her husband and cradled the newborn in her arm.
A name for the baby is yet to be announced.
They will now spend a couple of days at Kensington Palace before heading to their private Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk to spend time as a family.
Earlier in the afternoon, William briefly went home to pick up the couple’s son, Prince George, before bringing him back to meet his sister for the first time.
George only stopped at the hospital briefly before being taken home again to be wait for his sibling’s arrival.
News broke that Kate had gone into labour early this morning and just over two hours later it was revealed she had given birth.
Messages on the official Kensington Palace Twitter page read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.
“The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
