Katie Piper and her fiancé opted for toys and bedroom furnishings that weren't pink when they were picking out stuff for their baby daughter Belle.
Speaking to Stylist magazine, TV presenter Katie explained that Belle - who turned one just last month - is surrounded by lots of colours at home, instead of the traditional pale pink shade.
Thinking about what she'd change about the world if she was Queen for the day, Katie said: "Children's toys wouldn't just be blue and pink.
"My little girl is a bit of a tomboy," she went on.
"When my fiancé and I found out we were having a daughter, we wanted everything to be gender neutral and decorated her nursery with lots of primary colours and farm animals."
Katie added: "We thought that if we gave her everything pink it would be like saying, 'This is you, we're choosing your identity and how you express yourself.'"
Just last week, Katie was forced to miss Belle's birthday celebrations after being hospitalised with a throat problem.
She had previously been in for surgery to remove some of the star tissue on her oesophagus that had formed after someone threw acid over her in a 2008 attack.
But on Tuesday night she told her fans she was finally out, and looking forward to recovering at home.
