Perhaps jealous of the attention her boyfriend Diplo was getting on Twitter with his weird denigration of Taylor Swift’s body, Katy Perry raised eyebrows with her own post.

Although she’s just turned thirty, the Roar singer tweeted a selfie comparing herself to the 12-year-old eponymous character in Russian novel Lolita.

The singer wrote that she felt “v Lolita” as she shared the shot, which features her propped against an abnormally tall headboard/carpeted wall wearing a lacy black negligee. Her hair is braided on top of her head, which is either a nod to the look worn by Dominique Swain in the film version of the book or proves that Katy really wants to look like 20th century Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

All these influences, Katie. We just don’t know who you are any more.

Anyhow, as comparisons go, the Lolita one is quite an odd one; in Vladimir Nabokov's book Lolita is raped and imprisoned by her pedophile step-father Humbert Humbert.

Let's just hope Katy was speaking only in terms of hairstyles.
