Katy Perry SMASHED it at the Super Bowl at the weekend – without the help of ANY guy – so she would have been pretty bemused to receive a public good luck message from ex-husband Russell Brand.

He tweeted her good luck on Twitter. Don’t believe us? Here’s the message…

Super Bowl may be baffling to Brits but half time show will be amazing. Good luck KP > >

We all know that Katy Perry and Russell Brand divorced acrimoniously – she claims that he sent her a text requesting a divorce and then never spoke to her again, after all.

YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS LOT!

Katy told Vogue: “He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him. Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”

Yep, that good luck tweet IS looking strange.

An insider told The Sun: "She couldn't believe he'd [tweet her good luck] after everything he put her through.

"This was the man who quite literally destroyed her heart. He slagged her off publicly around the world.

"Then on the biggest night of her life professionally, he could not resist involving himself."

What a weird situation. We reckon Russell was genuinely trying to be nice – but maybe do it in a text next time, Russell.

Your ex-wife is super busy grinding on Lenny Kravitz and riding mechanical beasts on stage these days, ya know? She doesn’t have ANY time for distractions.
