Pepsi yesterday revealed that they'd pulled their new advert featuring Kendall Jenner after it sparked huge backlash and controversy.
In perhaps the most ill-thought out ad we've seen ever in our lives, Kendall leaves a shoot to join a protest, before pacifying the whole thing by giving a policeman a Pepsi.
We won't even begin to list the problems with this concept.
In Pepsi's statement, released to Twitter, they said: "Pepsi was trying ot project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize.
"We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position."
Aside from deleting all traces of the ad from her social media, Kendall has remained tight-lipped on the controversy.
But an E! Online report states that a source close to the Kendall Pepsi deal said that she's "devastated" by the backlash.
"Even though she had nothing to do with the production and the message of the campaign, she will be blamed for this since she is the face," the source explained.
The source states that Kendall was paid millions for the deal, but that she can't contractually comment on the fallout without Pepsi's approval.
They continued: "Kendall relied on Pepsi to do their due diligence and trusted that it would tasteful… The original intent of the commercial was to mirror all the global protests trying to make this world a more equal place for everyone.
"But they shouldn't have had a celebrity face tied to it if they wanted to try and send a strong message like this."
Another source told TMZ that Kendall "had no involvement in the creative process" for the advert.
