Kerry Katona has the names of her children tattooed on her wrists to stop her from slashing them after she had suicidal thoughts.

The Atomic Kitten singer, who suffers from bipolar disorder and has battled drug demons in the past, says Molly, 14, Lilly-Sue, 12, Heidi, eight, Max, seven, and Dylan-Jorge, one, are the reason she is still alive today.

She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’ve never slashed my wrists because of my kids.

“If I was ever to do that it would mean cutting through my kids’ names. And what a selfish mother I would be to do that.

“Like any mother, my first love and priority are my children, above everything and everybody.”

The star became so desperate during her marriage to ex-husband Mark Croft she considered ending it all.

She said: “I was thinking, ‘How can I get out of this? I’m stuck. There’s nowhere to go. The best way to end all this is to end my own life.’

“That’s how close I was to giving up on myself. I get asked about self-harming by fans and I want what I’ve been through to help others.”

However, Kerry, who has had spells in rehab in the past, thanks exercise for turning her life around and insists a tough few weeks in boot camp put her on the road to recovery.

She said: “I went there at a time when I was struggling to get work and I was itching to get out of the house.

“It was the first time I had been away from my husband. He didn’t like me leaving the house or doing anything.

“If I hadn’t gone I’d probably be dead now – I would have overdosed or something.”

Glad you’re feeling better, Kerry.
