Kerry Katona has announced the end of her marriage to George Kay, after he was arrested for assault over the weekend.

A statement from the singer says: “It is with deep sadness that Kerry announces the end of her marriage to George Kay.

“Her focus now will be on her gorgeous children.”

The pair married on 14 September 2014, year after announcing Kerry was pregnant with her and George’s first child together.

Baby Dylan-Jorge Rose was born in April 2014 and joined Kerry’s four elder children from previous relationships.

On Saturday (3 October), George was arrested at the couple’s home in East Sussex after reports that he had assaulted her.

He was alleged to have caused actual bodily harm and be in unlawful possession of a Taser.

George has since been released on bail and is due in court on 24 October.

A police spokesperson told heatworld a 35-year-old woman had “sustained bruising to her face and arms” as a result of the incident, which happened on Saturday evening.

Just two months before that, he told Closer magazine: “It’s been tough lately. We’ve been rowing a lot. Marriage isn’t what I thought it would be to be honest.”

He went on: “There have been times I’ve thought we might not last. In my darkest moments I’ve wondered if we should even be together.”
