You know what they say: if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again. It’s an expression Kevin Clifton is taking literally, as friends say he’s preparing to make Stacey Dooley wife number four. The Strictly Come Dancing winners – who controversially started dating last year, after the presenter dumped her boyfriend of five years for the pro dancer – have been dropping hints that an engagement is on the cards. And we’re told that Kevin is insisting, yet again, that this time is different…
“Yes, Kevin has been married three times before, but he really feels that Stacey is the right person for him and this time will be different,” says an insider close to the pair, who went public with their romance in April 2019. “He would love to propose and everyone thinks Stacey would say yes. She says she’s never been this happy and that’s mainly because of Kevin. She feels so supported by him, they make a great team.”
The source continues, “Stacey doesn’t care that he’s got three ex-wives – she knows he’ll make a great husband. They’ve not discussed actual wedding plans yet, but they both see themselves getting married and spending their lives together.”

14. Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton
Stacey Dooley caused controversy when she went public with her romance with her dance partner Kevin Clifton. In March, Stacey and her ex-boyfriend Sam Tucknott split, with reports suggesting Sam was paranoid about Stacey's relationship with Kevin, after finding secret messages between the two on Stacey's phone. AWKWARD.
Kevin – who quit the BBC dance show in March – has acquired a bit of a “heartbreaker” reputation, mostly thanks to his three divorces. His first marriage to Latin world champion dancer Anna Melnikova ended in 2006, and he later explained, “I fell into depression because everything I’d put my life into had burst apart.” But he soon moved on after meeting ballet dancer Clare Craze and they set up home together after only eight weeks, marrying in 2007. When Kevin ended things three years later, Clare was devastated, saying, “When he told me it was finished, it felt like all hope from my life had gone.”
Kevin, 37, later said he was “never particularly happy” with Clare, but things were finally right when he started dating fellow Strictly dancer Karen Hauer. He said, “I could get on with her on a completely different level.” But they ended their three-year marriage in early 2018, amid rumours he’d gotten close to his 2017 dance partner Louise Redknapp. Louise called Kevin her “saviour” and ended her 19-year marriage to Jamie after she won the show, but always denied a romance.
And then there was Stacey. Kevin helped the 33-year-old documentary maker take home the glitterball trophy in 2018, and then, er, allegedly helped along the end of her long-term relationship with Sam Tucknott. He branded Kev a “snake” and claimed he’d bombarded his girlfriend with texts while they were together. In fact, producers were said to be so concerned by Kevin’s history, they deliberately partnered him with an older woman, Anneka Rice, 61, for his final series in September.
