Kim Kardashian has opened up about stepfather Bruce Jenner’s transition from male to female after his ABC interview with Diane Sawyer.

The former Olympian, who has chosen not to be identified by a female name or pronouns yet, spoke publicly for the first time about his struggle with gender dysphoria on Friday.

And reality star Kim has admitted it has been a “hard adjustment” for her and her famous family but insists they are all standing firmly by his side.

Speaking on NBC’s Today Show, she said: “I think there’s still an adjustment and there’s, you know, family therapy.

“And we’re really close. You know, I see reports that said ‘This one doesn’t support him and my mum feels this way’. And it’s all really so made up.”

During his chat with Diane Sawyer, Bruce said: “Yes, for all intents and purposes, I am a woman.

“I have the soul of a female and my brain is much more female than it is male, as of now I have all the male parts.”

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was praised by his family for his brave decision to speak out after the interview.

And they were still in awe of their family member the following day, with Kim’s sister Kourtney Kardashian tweeting: “Elated by the overwhelming support for Bruce’s bravery & courage to be himself. Woke up with a smile on my face knowing this will change lives.”

Bruce’s daughter Kylie Jenner wrote: “Woke up still in awe... I’ve never been more proud of you, Dad!!!!!!”

Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner left a heartwarming message by posting a picture of some homework she did at school when she was younger on Instagram:

A docuseries believed to be about Bruce’s transition is set to air on E! in July.
