Inside Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s trial separation

Despite a gushing birthday tribute from Kim Kardashian to her husband Kanye West last week, we’re told the couple’s blazing rows have reached such a point that they are living apart temporarily to see if it will help their relationship.

An insider tells heat, “Kanye has been grumpy and uncooperative, and it all came to a head last week when Kim told him he needed to take himself back to their house in Wyoming and do some serious thinking about what he wants.”

“She’s tired of his empty promises about changing his lifestyle and being more committed to family life – it’s the same old pattern and she believes this is Kanye’s mess to fix. He’s actually not fighting her on this and claims he’s happier being in Wyoming on their ranch. The truth is, they’re both enjoying the break and that’s not a good sign at all.”

The couple – who share four children, North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two and one-year-old Psalm – recently celebrated six years of marriage, and after Kim posted a message for Kanye’s 43rd birthday telling him “life wouldn’t be the same without you”, we’re told the irony of the situation is that, despite their differences, they don’t want to end things.

“Neither of them wants a divorce, but they can’t seem to function around each other these days without bickering and wanting space from each other,” we’re told.

“Kim’s feeling incredibly frustrated and overwhelmed right now – what she wants more than anything is a husband who ‘gets it’, who pulls his weight without making a fuss and doesn’t have her walking on eggshells in case he erupts when he doesn’t get his own way. She’s tired of the drama that comes with living with him, and has found it a lot more peaceful and less volatile when she’s by herself.”

But, even though the couple have decided to experiment with a trial separation, our source explains that they still speak with each other regularly.

“They’ll check in with each other several times a day and try to keep the conversation as loving and peaceful as possible. Kanye is very hopeful that, once lockdown’s over, a lot of the stress will ease up, Kim will be able to bring in more people to help and they’ll be more tolerant of each other. But everyone close to them is saying it’s going to take a whole lot more than that – especially in terms of Kanye making an effort – for this marriage to be fully back on solid ground again.”
