In light of the Surviving R. Kelly documentary series, we asked The Pussycat Dolls' Kimberly Wyatt about her experience working with the singer.
The band, fronted by Nicole Scherzinger, featured R. Kelly on their Doll Domination album track Out of This Club back in 2008; and now Kimberly's explained that the collaboration was 'out of her hands.'
Speaking to heat, Kimberly said: "I have thought about it. In The Pussycat Dolls I never got to make any of the choices, I never made any of the decisions. I was a cast member in a performance group and I did my role to the best of my ability.
"When it came to the music, and when it came to R. Kelly, that was completely out of my hands. I had nothing to do with the song or the choice. I never met the man, I was never in the studio with him. If I had had more power I probably would have made it a bit different.
"I have experienced many of the same allegations as R. Kelly is going through, on the other end. I’ve had some dark times from being a small child, so it’s something I really stand strong against.
"Here you’ve got NSPCC, and in the States we have Reign [Ministeries] and I’ve worked really hard with them to raise lots of money and awareness. There’s a lot of women, especially in the Me Too movement, that need the help; that need the support.
"They need to know that if they do come forward, they’ll be believed.
"There will be somebody out there that will believe you, so keep going and keep pushing forward to bring an end to feeling like a victim and start a life of feeling like a survivor."
