Kristen Stewart has said her upcoming film Equals - also starring Nicolas Hoult - helped her get through her "incredibly painful" break-up from Robert Pattinson.
The sci-fi romance made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday and is about a young woman Nia (Stewart) living in a future society dubbed “The Collective” where everyone stalks about in white suits, and emotions have been all but eradicated. Basically if you show emotions - known as "Defects" - then you will be destroyed.
The film explores a first love, in this instance between Nia and Silas (Hoult) who are forced to runaway with each other or face, erm, termination.
Speaking about her high-profile break-up with R-Patz, Kristen told the Daily Beast: "It was incredibly painful."

The 25 year old continued to talk about how making the film was good for herself and Nicolas, who split-up with Jennifer Lawrence at the time: “Ugh, fucking kill me. It was a really good time for both of us to make this movie. Not all of my friends have been through what I’ve been through, or what some people have tasted at a relatively-speaking young age, and we were not expected to do anything. Everything that we did was explorative, and a meditation on what we already knew.”
“We all felt akin by how much we’ve been through, and to utilize that is so scary,” she continued. “And to acknowledge it, reassess, and jump back into it? Usually you want to move on. But at least we could use some of that for some good. This movie was a meditation on firsts, and a meditation on maintaining, and a meditation on the ebbs and flows of what it’s like to love someone—your feelings versus your ideals, the bursting of bubbles, the shattering of dreams you thought were possible, and what you have to contend with as things get more realistic.”
“Relationships,” she adds, “you just never fucking know.”
Kristen and *Twilight *co-star R-Patz split up in April 2013 - six months after the final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part Two, was released. Awkward.
It was reported the couple were engaged, although this was never confirmed by either of them, but the end of their relationship came after Kristen had an affair with her Snow White And The Hunstman director Rupert Sanders in 2012.
And now there are rumours Robert has split from his girlfriend of a year, FKA twigs, would they ever reconcile?
