Popular EastEnders actress Lacey Turner announced she was expecting her first child with her husband Matt Kaye last month, following two devastating miscarriages in recent years.
After announcing her happy news to the public, Lacey has now appeared on This Morning where she's opened up about her heartbreak of the two miscarriages, and revealed details about the horrifying moment she though she had suffered a third.
Speaking to show hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Lacey, who plays the role of Stacey Slater in EastEnders, revealed she'd suffered similar symptoms around the seven week stage, but her mind was later put to rest when she heard her baby's heartbeat.
She said, "I don't get excited, and I sort of ignored it until I was about 10 weeks. It was not until I got until 20 weeks that I thought [we're going to have a baby]."
Opening up about her past miscarriages the brave actress later said, "We couldn't believe it – we got a positive pregnancy test. You think of names, then we got to seven weeks and we sadly lost it. It was heartbreaking, my whole world crumbled. I couldn't understand it. I didn't know anybody who had been through anything like this.
"It's a really confusing time, I thought, 'What did I do?' You sort of think, 'Was my steak not cooked properly? Did I lift the box?' You drive yourself insane about all these things you might have done."
The 30-year-old then told of her second miscarriage, revealing the couple also lost another child, again at the seven week stage.
Meanwhile, after years of tragedy, Lacey and her husband Matt announced the lovely news they are expecting their first child later in the year.
Opening up to OK! Magazine at the time, Lacey said, “I can’t wait to nurture our baby – we’ve dreamed of having a family for so long.”
Lacey and Matt's first child is expected later in the year.
