Rather than just getting down on one knee and proffering a big shiny diamond in a velvet box, he actually gave Gaga an edible ring first of all.

“First he gave me a Ring Pop. That was kind of amazing and I was crying, I was so excited,” the Bad Romance singer told Access Hollywood.

Now we would be pretty excited about an edible ring, but inside part of us would definitely be very sad.

Luckily, as she said yes the actor got out the real ring (which is absolutely huge).

Ooh, look! Super-snazzy Oscars news:

She added: “I said, 'Yes!' right away and then he pulled out the heart-shaped diamond. First it was candy. I was happy with the candy. It makes everything better. When you're in love and have love it makes everything better.”

The 28-year-old also opened up about THOSE rather odd gloves she wore to the Oscars on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Oven gloves? Red Marigolds?
Oven gloves? Red Marigolds?

Now although there was a lot of speculation as to why Gaga was wearing oven gloves (or washing up gloves, your choice…) on the red carpet.

Some people said she was afraid her ring would get nicked. It turns out she actually chose them and they were specially designed for her, saying:

“Mr. Alaïa designed the gloves before we got engaged and I wanted to keep the look exactly as he envisioned it.”

To be honest, she has worn things that are a LOT weirder. (Dress made from meat, anyone?)
