Despite the fact she sang This Land is Your Land on the roof of the NRG Stadium, performed inclusive anthem Born This Way and described the United States as 'one nation, under God, indivisible,' some still questioned why Lady Gaga didn't directly address Donald Trump during her Super Bowl halftime show.
While 99 per cent of the internet went batshit for it (seriously, there are memes for days) Gaga did face some criticism with claims she didn't use her platform to make a political statement. But did those people spot the hidden message in her performance? EH? DID THEY?
Yup - as well as revisiting Born This Way in all its LGBTQ+ glory under TRUMP'S AMERICA, Gaga made a subtle statement with the word 'UNITY' on her microphone. Cute.
Before her performance Gaga admitted she wouldn't use the show as an opportunity to directly diss Donald Trump, telling press: "I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality and the spirit of this country as one of love, and compassion, and kindness.
"My performance will uphold those philosophies. I don’t know if it will succeed in unifying America. You’ll have to ask America when it’s over."
Can't confirm whether or not it's unified America yet, tbh; but we can confirm it was a bit brilliant.
SO GOOD.
