Lauryn's statement read: "Hello All, I've been informed that I won't be able to enter the UK for a period of time due to my past legal situation. For this reason I have to cancel my concert on July 15th.
"Know that I was looking forward to performing in London this summer, and that I appreciate all of my fans and supporters both in London, and throughout the UK. I look forward to seeing you again as soon as I'm able to. Love and Respect, MLH."
It is believed the former Fugees singer is referring to her conviction for tax evasion in 2013.

After pleading guilty, the 40-year-old served three months in a US prison for failing to file federal tax returns for $1.8 million (around £1.2million), which she earned between 2005 -2007.
Upon hearing about her cancellation, fans were left very upset.
One FB user posted a comment saying: "...No to Lauryn Hill - but Kanye West can come and pollute our ear drums as and when he chooses to. Sorry MLH, still loving you!"
Another used said: "I am sad Ms Hill as I really enjoyed your last UK Tour. I was excited to see you on Wednesday :-((."
"We all know the score ms hill u keep on keeping on and we will see you soon and thank you for your lovely words xxxxxx," another added.
And despite the ban, Lauryn has played in the UK since - with one gig being as recent as September last year.
