In news that made us spit out our Cheerios in shock this Sunday morning, Liam Gallagher has been confirmed as the first contestant for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

A BBC spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re delighted to have Liam on board for series 16 of the iconic Strictly Come Dancing. He truly is a national treasure, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the show.”

Speaking about the announcement, Liam himself added: “I’ve kept it secret for all these years, but I live to dance. When I’m not dancing, I’m not breathing. And Strictly Come Dancing will finally allow me to show the world, do you know what I mean?

“I actually pitched the idea of performing Knebworth solely via the medium of interpretive dance to Noel,” he continued. “But he didn’t go for it. His lack of support for my dancing really was the start of the whole feud thing, to be honest.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about the sort of performances I’d like to showcase on Strictly Come Dancing,” Liam added. “I’ve been working on a particularly dramatic dance rendition of Champagne Supernova. I think that would be perfect.”

When asked if he’s a fan of the show, Liam smiled thoughtfully and said: “Most people think I live some sort of rock ‘n’ roll star lifestyle, but most of my evenings are spent sat at home streaming old episodes of Strictly Come Dancing on the internet and eating chocolate muffins. As you were."

**THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN APRIL FOOLS. Plz don’t sue us, Liam. We love you. **
