Liam Payne was born in Wolverhampton on 29th August 1993. Y'know, that West Midlands city near Birmingham? So why, we ask ya, does he have a confusing new accent now One Direction are very much on hiatus?

Big Payno's obviously been hard at work on his solo album and debut single Strip That Down over in the US; and now fans are confused as to where his dulcet, almost Dudley-esque tones have disappeared to.

In scenes reminiscent to that time Joss Stone appeared at the 2007 BRIT Awards with an odd, full-on-American accent, Liam hit KIIS FM's Wango Tango in LA with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VOICE.

Kinda. Sort of.

And in case you're wondering what he used to sound like, VOILA:

Meanwhile Liam's literally just revealed the artwork for his debut single Strip That Down. It's out this Friday (May 19th) and to cut a long story short we're very excited indeed.

Attractive.
