Although there were rumours that 22-year-old Liam Payne gifted Cheryl with a diamond ring for her birthday, now we're not so sure.
It appears that 33-year-old Cheryl didn't actually receive any material gifts from her beau AT ALL, after telling him that she had everything she needed.
But smitten Liam couldn't have left it at that. Surely?
It's been reported that the One Direction star surprised Cheryl instead by donating a large sum to her charity, Cheryl's Trust.
A source revealed to the MailOnline "She was over the moon, she thought it was a really lovely gesture. She's already got everything she needs".
The star's Charity was founded last year in order to try and help transform the lives of young people living in the North East of England.
The charity has even partnered with the Prince's Trust and is half way through building a new art youth centre in Newcastle which will help at-risk youths, including those facing alcohol and drug abuse. O
thers that the foundation strives to help are the homeless, people suffering with mental health problems and those that are just leaving care.
But obviously Liam wouldn't have left Cheryl completed empty handed.
The pair went for a birthday dinner with pal Kimberley Walsh at Coya in London on Thursday to celebrate her 33rd birthday.
We wonder if Liam will gift Cheryl with an engagement ring any time soon...?
