The One Direction star was with his friends in the US when he visited the Robertson family – who, if you don’t know, are the stars of reality TV show Duck Dynasty – to take part in some clay pigeon shooting.

The photograph was uploaded by Liam's friend, who joined him on the trip, and it's pretty unlikely that he knew the uproar it would cause.

If he'd have known, he would have definitely thought about it twice...

“It's not funny to hold a gun, because everyday thousands of people die by gunfire,” wrote on user, while another said: “Thanks for glamorizing America’s gun crisis that literally kills countless numbers of innocent people every day seriously”.

Fans of the singer were quick to jump to his defence but this probably tops off a pretty rubbish week for Liam.

On Sunday, the 21-year-old had to deny that nude photographs leaked online were his after the internet went wild over the snaps.

“I'm 100% not homophobic,” wrote Liam. “But I'm also 100% not gay so when somebody says I am I'm gunna say I'm not which does not make me a homophobe.

“Wow as if people think that weird photo going around is actually me lol think id rather tweet a full frontal than have people look at that”
