We really felt for One Direction fans when they cried their actual eyeballs out at news Zayn Malik was leaving the band earlier this year.
The singer said he just wanted to live like a “normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”.
However, Zayn’s ex-bandmate Liam Payne thinks there is more to it – and that his departure was “not necessarily a bad thing”.

Liam and fellow 1D singer Louis Tomlinson appeared on Good Morning Britain today to talk about all the exciting things they’ve got planned before and after they go on hiatus next year, and Mr Payne opened up about his old pal Zayn.
He said: “One Direction was never really Zayn’s kind of bag.
“His taste in music was a bit different, and I guess that’s kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
“Everyone’s come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans.
“He’s off doing what he loves as well, so both parties are winners in the end of a disaster situation. It’s all good.”
So, basically, Zayn was never really that bothered about the band that made him super famous and massively rich…
Meanwhile, the boys insist they will keep in touch when they take a break next year.
Louis said: “There’s no doubt we’ll see plenty of each other, we’re gonna plan to go on a little lads’ holiday.
“Actually it’s just the day-to-day things, we are like family now.
“It’s the company that you’re used to it’s like leaving school and leaving your friends behind.”
