Have Liam Payne and Sophia Smith split? One Direction star worries fans with melancholy tweet

Ever since One Direction cancelled their gig with minutes to spare claiming Liam Payne was too sick to go on stage, fans have been searching for answers as to what the cause was.

It was rumoured Liam had a breakdown backstage due to the pressures of fame, but it’s also been claimed he had the s**ts.

However, was there something far more sinister going on? Has Liam split from girlfriend Sophia Smith?

In the early hours of this morning the singer certainly seemed melancholy and reflective about something, tweeting: “I love how music is always there for you when you need it most x.”

This prompted some fans to assume he didn’t have Sophia there to comfort him and they have in fact split.

Fan Twitter ‘IDInfoForFans’ retweeted Liam’s message, adding: “Appears that Liam and Sophia broke up. She deleted every picture of Liam on Facebook and Instagram and Liam’s last tweet makes sense.”

Cue hysteria

One devastated Directioner tweeted: “Tell me that the Sophiam split is just a rumour!”

Another posted: “SOPHIAM IS DEAD???!!!”

One other supporter, who feels as close to the couple as her mum and dad, wrote: “MY PARENTS CAN’T SPLIT UP! WHAT?! @Real_Liam_Payne I’M SO SORRY!”

And another wrote: “If @Real_Liam_Payne and Sophia broke up... don’t expect to see me out of my house for a week.”

However, Liam is yet to comment on any love split directly, so until then fans will just have to carry on guessing...
