Little Mix have received stick on numerous occasions for the outfits they wear on stage, with critics deeming them too provocative for their younger fans.
But now the girls have hit back, revealing the REAL reason behind their skimpy ensembles: practicality.
Jade Thirwall, one fourth of the girlband, told MailOnline: “I don't think we're sexing ourselves up. We're sweating our t**s off on stage and we want to wear leotards!”
She added that the primary reason for their attire is comfort: when they’re doing one and a half hour sets and dancing around on stage, it’s just not practical to wear lots of clothing.
Jade also pointed out that these outfits are purely for shows: “It's because we're performing. We're not going to walk down the street in [a leotard], are we?!”
Perrie Edwards, who was engaged to Zayn Malik in the past, stressed that the girls aren’t going to change – they’re just tired of the constant comments.
The Little Mix girls have come under fire for their outfits on a number of occasions.
In June this year, the girlband were criticised for the “inappropriate clothing” they wore for their performance at the One Love Manchester concert.
Other celebs have had their say too - former Spice Girl Mel B, for instance, has said in the past she thinks it’s a “shame” the Little Mix girls are “getting more provocative.”
Others aren’t so critical though – Nicole Scherzinger has defended the girls in the past, saying: “I felt the good thing about Little Mix is they are empowering girls. They don't seem skanky or raunchy.”
Little Mix stars Jade, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jesy rose to fame after winning The X Factor back in 2011.
And it’s safe to say they’ve done pretty well since then – they now have four albums and countless hits under their belts.
