None of us were prepared for the surprise Elizabeth Hurley dropped on Instagram over Easter weekend, when she went public with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus in a PDA-filled snap. And while Liz, 59, and Billy, 63 – who co-starred in festive film Christmas In Paradise in 2022 – seem loved-up, one person who isn’t over the moon is the Achy Breaky Heart singer’s daughter, Miley.
‘Miley thinks her dad is just looking for attention and the fling with Liz will end in disaster,’ an insider tells heat.
‘Miley’s not speaking to her dad at the moment – she just wishes he’d act his age. It’s like he’s having some kind of delayed mid-life crisis. All his family are really concerned. They love him, but they worry that he can be a bit reckless with his relationships.’
The source adds that Miley, 32 – who has been hard on the promo trail for her new album Something Beautiful – feels her dad is ‘stealing her thunder’ by announcing his new romance at this time.
‘Miley’s doesn’t wish Billy and Liz any ill will, but it all seems a bit chaotic to her – and she really doesn’t want it to detract from her music,’ we’re told.
Billy has had a turbulent 12 months. His divorce from third wife Firerose was finalised last August, and then a shambolic performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration in January went viral, with fans calling it ‘an epic disaster’ and suggesting he was drunk . Billy said it was due to technical issues, but his eyebrow-raising behaviour seems to have caused a rift with his family.
As well as Miley, Billy shares Braison, 30, and Noah, 25, with second wife Tish; Christopher Cody, 33, with ex-girlfriend Kristin Luckey, and is also an adoptive father to Tish’s other children Brandi and Trace.
Meanwhile, it’s better news for Liz’s son Damian, 23. We’re told Miley is open to striking up a friendship with the actor and model. ‘She thinks he’s cool and they would get along,’ says our insider. ‘He and Miley have rubbed shoulders in fashion circles and have mutual friends.’
