We honestly thought that when it came to Taylor Swift’s infamous squad of super-famous and beautiful models, actresses, singers, Lorde sat on the board.
But nuh-uh honey.
Maybe it was this assumption the entire world had, that made Lorde, real name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, want to clear a few things up in an interview on Sunrise whilst promoting her latest album, Melodrama.
The 20-year-old New Zealander revealed that how she “doesn’t hang out with these people at all” and recently stated that her life in New Zealand is much more low-key and ‘boring’ (her words, not ours) than the fast-paced celeb lifestyle many assume she leads.
Her confession took the Sunrise host, David Koch, by surprise and he exclaimed: “But hang on, you are part of Taylor’s squad, all the magazines tell us!”
This was Lorde’s big chance to play it down, take it back, declare her undying love for the A-list brigade…. But NOPE!!
The best way to describe her reaction was a big EEEEEK followed by a: “I mean, you make friends in different place, but for the most part, I’m not like, calling up my idols for advice.”
Nice save with the ‘idols’ there Lorde, but we get it, you don’t wanna be associated with the squad.
A few weeks ago, Lorde also used a strange analogy to describe having Taylor as a friend, comparing her to a friend with severe allergies as “there are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do.”
Whether or not shade was being thrown, we’ll never know, but Lorde did later apologise for comments, posting on Twitter that “I f***ed up and that was really insensitive. I’m sorry.”
Although, perhaps throwing even MORE shade in TayTay’s direction, she seems to be apologising to people who have auto-immune diseases and not Taylor, which is fair enough in our opinion...
Taylor is yet to comment on all this is it-isn’t it shade being thrown. Could this be the most unlikely celeb feud waiting to happen?
