One of Louis Tomlinson’s late mother Johannah Deakin’s last wishes for her famous son was for him to pursue his solo career.

Johannah passed away last week after a private battle with an "aggressive" form of leukaemia.

One Direction star Louis took to The X Factor stage live on television last night to perform his debut solo single Just Hold On at the wish of his mother.

Louis had been one of the last 1D members to sign a solo record deal after teaming up with Syco boss Simon Cowell.

And it was his mother’s wish that he work hard on his solo dreams.

A source told the Daily Star: "After One Direction split Louis wasn’t sure whether he wanted to continue singing or concentrate on mentoring and writing for other artists.

"Louis sang the least lines out of all the One Direction band members and planned to go into the business side of the industry instead.

"But Johannah played a huge part in convincing him he was good enough to go solo and compete with his old bandmates."

They added: "She was incredibly proud of Louis and told him he shouldn’t be scared of launching a solo career or going head-to-head with his bandmates. Now Louis wants to carry on performing not only for himself but for his mum too."

Louis’ mum was also insistent that he perform on The X Factor last night and the singer received a standing ovation afterwards.

Simon Cowell told him: "Louis, what you’ve just done and the bravery that took - I just respect you so much as an artist and a person.

"Your mum was so looking forward to tonight and I know she is watching down on you now. She was so proud of you."
